Through my artwork I hope to highlight the plight of the worlds animal inhabitants who are in serious trouble. Sadly extinction looms and each one of us has the power to change this.
It all starts with one.......one voice, and another and another.........
All of my life, art, in one form or another has featured. I remember as kids, my two younger sisters and I were gifted every Christmas with a treasure trove of pens, pencils, colouring in books and art supplies. Couple this with growing up with an exotic range of parrots and various other animals, my love of all things nature and animals features in a lot of my art.
Two major events in the last couple of years have lead me right to where I am today , and why, you sit here now reading this. The first, the gift of Sapphire. Sapphire, my 13 year old Dobermann. The catalyst for my first DSLR purchase late December 2016 she has changed the path of my life in a way I never expected. Often you hear people say, once you view the world through a viewfinder your whole world changes- and that it does. Truly. The first click of the shutter and my world changed.
Dark Sapphire Pet Photography was born and over the last two years I have found my focus slowly featuring more and more Photoshop work. Never really being completely happy with my images I found my imagination wandering often, and breaking "the rules of photography" (rules schmules) Once I had my first taste of composite work and Digital Artistry my fate was sealed.. even if I didn't know it at the time.
The decision in 2018 to join Photoshop Artistry and consequently AWAKE and Artists Down Under has had a profound impact, finally, I had found what felt like home! What does the future look like? It is my intention to put more emphasis on animals/nature and the impact we as humans have on these things. And to have a whole lot of fun using my imagination along the way. I do hope you will follow along on this wild ride with me!
